2nd Marine Division. Fully embroidered, German made. One
question we often hear asked is "Why would the Germans make
any USMC SSI?" (Especially considering, the market at the time
was predominantly aimed at veterans and not the collector
market) The answer is quite simple. After WWII, the USMC
drastically reduced forces including the de-activation of many
Divisions. Some Marine veterans chose to re-enlist in the US
Army and these patches became right shoulder SSI on Army
uniforms.
